Selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America, Mr Boysen counsels clients on separation, divorce, custody, custodial relocation, child support, parental kidnapping and international custody matters, and pre and post marital agreements. Mr. Boysen also handles equitable distribution of property issues such as business interests, stock options, professional licenses, pensions, and profit sharing plans. He has a substantial practice in both family law and contested wills and estates all over central and western New York. He also has argued cases in the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court as well as before the New York Court of Appeals, and has been trained and practices in collaborative family law. Mr. Boysen counsels medium and upper income clients in financial and personal matters relating to family break ups. He works closely with members of the Corporate, Tax, Real Estate, Intellectual Property, and Trusts & Estates Practice Groups to effectively meet his clients’ business and personal needs.
Mr. Boysen has recently had trials in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York on an international custody dispute under the Hague convention, has had a trial and settlements where custody was obtained for fathers and has recently also become involved in collaborate family law work involving creative settlements in a non-litigation settling where the expanded needs and interests of the family can be more appropriately dealt with than often is the case in court.
Mr. Boysen joined Harris Beach in 1972 and became a partner in 1979 following U.S. Army Service as an assistant professor of law in the Department of Law at West Point and as an assistant staff judge advocate stationed with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
