Harris Beach Elects Pietra G. Lettieri Partner

Harris Beach has elected attorney Pietra G. Lettieri a partner of the firm effective January 1, 2012.  She practices in the Public Finance and Economic Development and Tax Law Practice Groups and serves on the Energy and the Telecommunications and Media Industry Teams.  In the public finance area, Ms. Lettieri works with companies, issuers, banks and underwriters in obtaining financing through the issuance of tax-exempt bonds.  In the economic development area, she assists companies in obtaining tax savings through transactions with Industrial Development Agencies.  She also works with clients to obtain tax savings through various federal and New York state incentive programs.  In the area of tax dispute resolution, Ms. Lettieri represents clients in federal and state tax disputes from the audit level through the appellate process with respect to controversies involving taxes such as business tax, personal income tax, and sales and use tax.

Prior to joining Harris Beach in July 2003, Ms. Lettieri was an associate in the office of a “Big 4” New York City accounting firm where she consulted individual and corporate clients on audit defense of New York state and New York City income and net worth based franchise taxes. 

Ms. Lettieri received her JD in 2001 from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law and her BS in 1996, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She completed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in 1998.

Ms. Lettieri is a member of the American Bar Association and the Bar Association of Erie County, serving as immediate past chair of the Bar Association of Erie County Young Lawyers Committee and is a 2009 graduate of its Leadership Institute.  She is also a member of the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York.  Ms. Lettieri is past president of the Board of Directors of the University of Buffalo Alumni Association GOLD Group, and currently serves as vice president of the Board of Directors of the UB Law Alumni Association.  She is also a community volunteer as a member of the Junior League of Buffalo.
