Rosevelie Márquez Morales to Receive the 2013 HNBA Top Lawyers Under 40 Award
Harris Beach Partner Rosevelie Márquez Morales has been selected to receive the 2013 HNBA Top Lawyers Under 40 Award from the Hispanic National Bar Association. The award will be presented on March 14, 2013 at the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Midyear Corporate Counsel Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, and recognizes Ms. Márquez Morales’s outstanding professional achievements and exception commitment to service.
Ms. Márquez Morales is immediate past president of the Puerto Rican Bar Association ("PRBA"). She previously served the PRBA on the Board of Directors, as Chair of the Women’s Committee, Recording Secretary, and Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee. Ms. Márquez Morales testified on behalf of the PRBA before the New York City Council in support of their resolution endorsing the nomination of the Honorable Sonia Sotomayor as Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Márquez Morales is also an active member of DRI where she serves on the Diversity Steering Committee and Membership Committee. She previously served as Chair of DRI’s 2012 Diversity Seminar, as Vice Chair of Diversity Publications, and Vice Chair of DRI's 2010 Diversity Seminar’s Corporate Expo. She serves as co-chair of the Harris Beach Diversity Council. She is also a Barnard Alumni Admissions Representative where she interviews potential students. Ms. Márquez Morales is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and its House of Delegates, the Hispanic National Bar Association where she served as Deputy President for Region II, the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, and the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance. She is Chair of Programming for the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion. She is also on the Board of Directors for Legal Services NYC and serves as a member of the New York Women’s Foundation’s Grants Committee and Chair of the 2013 40 Under 40 Rising Latino Star.
She is a 2010 recipient of the Puerto Rican Bar Association Young Lawyers Award, recipient of the 2011 Fordham LALSA Andrew A. Rivera Alumni Achievement Award, and honored by El Diario as part of its 2011 Mujeres Destacadas “Distinguished Latinas.” She also received the 2012 40 Under 40 Rising Latino Star award by The Hispanic Coalition NY and Leadership Award from the Puerto Rican Bar Association for her time as President during 2011-2012. Ms. Márquez Morales was nominated for Program Chair of the Year for DRI’s 2012 Diversity Conference.
