The law firm of Harris Beach is pleased to announce that Roberta A. Jordans of Naples has joined the firm as manager of economic development assistance in the firm’s Public Finance & Economic Development Practice Group. She is certified by the National Development Council as an Economic Development Finance Professional. Ms. Jordans offers more than 25 years of experience in economic development, commercial banking, finance, and commercial real estate. She advises clients on their economic development projects and helps to expedite those projects to completion. Ms. Jordans supports the Harris Beach Public Finance and Economic Development attorneys prior to the closing of a transaction by acting as an intermediary between clients and governmental agencies. Prior to joining Harris Beach, Ms. Jordans served as deputy director/IDA officer at the Ontario County Office of Economic Development and Industrial Development Agency. Her responsibilities included the development of more than $100 million of Industrial Revenue Bond, sale-leaseback, and commercial public sector loan transactions and the negotiation of specific terms of business financing proposals with principals, equity holders, and lending institutions. She also administered a $23 million HUD CDBG loan portfolio on behalf of more than 120 corporate borrowers with loans for $50,000 to $900,000. Previously, Ms. Jordans was executive director of the Rochester Finger Lakes Regional Development Corporation where she oversaw the development of a MLS database of industrial and commercial properties in a nine-county region and administered the New York State Revolving Fund, including business development, loan packaging, and loan approvals and declinations. Ms. Jordans began her career in commercial banking. She served as a commercial lending officer and assistant vice president at Marine Midland Bank (now HSBC) and as a commercial credit department manager at Fleet Bank (now Bank of America). Ms. Jordans holds a MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Rochester Simon School of Business and a BA, magna cum laude, from St. John Fisher College. She completed training in the ExecutivePulse Business Retention and Expansion consulting program provided by the International Economic Development Council. Ms. Jordans is a member of the New York State Economic Development Council and the Finger Lakes Community College Foundation Board of Directors. When she was with the Ontario County Office of Economic Development and Industrial Development Agency, Ms. Jordans served on the Council of Development Finance Agencies and the Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board Performance and Evaluation Committee. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of United Way. In the area of Public Finance and Economic Development, Harris Beach is a nationally recognized bond counsel firm, serving most New York state issuers, more than two dozen industrial development agencies throughout New York state, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The State of New York Authority Budget Office has approved Harris Beach as a trainer for the Public Authorities Accountability Act.
