Mr. Runke is a member of the firm. He practices in the Corporate Practice Group and serves on the Health Care Industry Team. His corporate practice focuses on a wide array of corporate and commercial law issues, including mergers and acquisitions, software and intellectual property licensing, public and private financing transactions, general business planning, and various regulatory and statutory compliance issues. In addition, Mr. Runke has significant experience representing lending institutions in connection with commercial loan transactions.
As a member of the Health Care Industry Team, Mr. Runke has represented health care providers in connection with a broad range of transactions, including joint ventures, acquisitions, and technology licensing, including negotiation of EHR software licenses. Mr. Runke has significant experience in advising health care providers on issues related to HIPAA and the HITECH Act.
Professional & Community Activities
Mr. Runke is a member of the New York State and Monroe County Bar Associations. He has been a speaker on HIPAA compliance issues at numerous seminars hosted by a variety of professional and not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Runke is also an author of HIPAA Privacy Guide (CCH Incorporated, 2003), a compliance manual which provides a comprehensive introduction to the HIPAA Privacy Rule, together with practical implementation tools that may serve as a foundation for a comprehensive HIPAA Privacy Rule compliance program.
Mr. Runke serves as a director of Mercury Opera Rochester and the Rochester Eye and Human Parts Bank. Mr. Runke also serves as a trustee of the Rundel Library Foundation.
While in law school, Mr. Runke served as an Articles Editor for the Seton Hall Law Review. Mr. Runke is the author of “Fourth Amendment Balancing Act: Special Needs of Rape Victims Justify Court Ordered HIV Testing of the Accused,” 29 Seton Hall L. Rev 1094 (1999).
