Ms. Bolaños is a member of the firm and co-leader of the Municipalities and Quasi-Governmental Agencies Industry Team. She practices in the Labor and Employment Law and Immigration Law Practice Groups. She also serves on the Educational Institutions and the Internet Law Industry Teams. Ms. Bolaños also provides clients with non-legal consulting services related to human resource issues as part of HB Solutions LLC, a non-legal consulting affiliate of Harris Beach. She is an editorial team member of the nymuniblog.com, a blog created by Harris Beach as a public service to foster discussion of important issues facing New York state municipalities and quasi-governmental agencies. It is designed specifically for thought leaders in the public and private sectors so they can share their views and ideas on a wide variety of government-related issues.

Ms. Bolaños’ legal practice focuses primarily on counseling and representing employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including federal and state labor laws, federal and state discrimination laws, the National Labor Relations Act, the New York State Labor and Civil Service Laws, wage and hour laws, the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other privacy laws, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and constitutional issues. Ms. Bolaños works with employers and educational institutions on a broad range of employment issues, including collective bargaining, workplace investigations, administrative proceedings and hearings, labor audits, wage and hour issues, supervisory training, employee misconduct, electronic misconduct, including issues related to blogging and other social media and social networking, leaves of absence, safety and security, issues relating to employee termination and discipline, grievance arbitration, and harassment. Ms. Bolaños also reviews employment policies and practices and counsels both private and public sector clients. Ms. Bolaños has extensive experience in New York public sector employment issues, civil service issues, and public sector contract negotiations. Ms. Bolaños also handles various employment litigation matters, representing clients before various courts and agencies, including employment litigation before the EEOC and the Human Rights Division. Additionally, Ms. Bolaños counsels corporations, educational institutions, health care facilities, and small and large employers and individuals on aspects of immigration law, including permanent residence, temporary visas, student visa issues, and employment eligibility verification requirements. Ms. Bolaños has worked with companies to secure foreign national employee work authorization; represented research scientists, scholars, physicians, and engineers in securing employment eligibility in the U.S.; represented companies in connection with labor certification; and focuses on assisting clients in complying with employment verification rules and I-9 auditing. Her practice also includes advising school district clients on all aspects of labor law, education law, and working with school districts on litigation matters.

Professional & Community Activities

Ms. Bolaños is a member of the Monroe County and New York State Bar Associations and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. In 2006, Ms. Bolaños was selected as one of Rochester’s Up and Coming Business Women by the Rochester Women’s Network. In 2009, Ms. Bolaños was selected an Up and Coming Attorney by The Daily Record. She enjoys community service and serves on the Board of Directors of the Catholic Courier and on the Personnel Committee for the Center for Youth Services. At Harris Beach, Ms. Bolaños is a member of the Hiring Committee.
