Kevin W. Tompsett

Mr. Tompsett is a member of the firm. He practices in the Financial Restructuring, Bankruptcy, and Creditors’ Rights and the Collections Law Practice Groups. Mr. Tompsett regularly represents banks, credit unions, finance companies and judgment creditors in bankruptcy and insolvency matters. He has particular experience with respect to handling bankruptcy matters including plan negotiation and confirmation issues, and preference and nondischargeability actions. He also regularly handles replevin actions as well as judgment enforcement.
Prior to joining Harris Beach, Mr. Tompsett practiced law in Boston, Massachusetts in the areas of litigation, real estate and institutional finance.
Professional & Community Activities
Mr. Tompsett is a member of the New York State and Monroe County Bar Associations. He is a Past President of the Avon Rotary Club, and has served on its Board of Directors for six years. Mr. Tompsett also enjoys presenting the CARE Program (Credit Abuse Resistance Education) to area high schools, which is a national program aimed at educating teens and young adults regarding the consequences of abusing consumer credit and overspending. In 2007, Mr. Tompsett received the Rotarian of the Year Award and is a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Tompsett is a member of the firm’s Rochester office Community Involvement Committee, which assists in organizing and fostering attorney and administrative personnel participation in community-related and charitable events. While in law school, Mr. Tompsett was a member of the law review. He authored the articles, “Understanding the Automatic Stay in Bankruptcy and Avoiding a Willful Violation,” published in the January 2011 edition of the National List of Attorneys’ Member News, and “Loss Mitigation Program Adopted by Bankruptcy Court Impacts Creditors with Liens Secured by Debtor’s Principal Residence,” published in March 2009 as a Harris Beach Legal Alert.
