Mr. Sawyko is a member of the firm and practices in the Commercial Real Estate Practice Group and serves on the Financial Institutions and Capital Markets Industry Team and the Real Estate Developers Industry Team. He is involved in all aspects of the purchase, sale and financing of property, and has extensive experience in condominium and home owner association filings. Mr. Sawyko, selected as one of the Best Lawyers in Americaand listed in New York Super Lawyers, represents real estate developers in all areas, including acquisition, financing, development, zoning and planning, subdivision development and leasing. He also represents not‑for‑profit and business corporations in County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency and Housing Finance Agency bond financings.
Professional & Community Activities
Mr. Sawyko is a member of the New York State and Monroe County Bar Associations and has been a member of the Real Estate Sections of both organizations. He has served as chairman of the Monroe County Bar Real Estate Section, and as co chair of the Development Committee of the Real Property Section Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association. He is currently co chair of the Committee on Not-for-Profit entities and was previously co-chair of the Real Estate Financing Committee of the Section.
Mr. Sawyko was chairman of the Board of Directors of The DePaul Group, Inc., the parent corporation of DePaul Mental Health Services and its related companies. He has been active with the alumni association of St. John Fisher College and served as a trustee for the college from 1982 to 1987. He also has been a board member of the Catholic Courier and Nazareth Schools, and now serves on the Nazareth Finance Committee. Mr. Sawyko is former chair of the board of the Northwest Branch YMCA, a member of the Executive Committee and Vice President, Program of the board of the Otetiana Council, Boy Scouts of America, and serves as a member of the Finance Committee for Our Mother of Sorrows Church. He also serves on the board of the Unity Health System as a board member and chairman of the Unity Health Foundation.
