Richard A. Shutts, Jr.
Director of Information Technology
Mr. Shutts is director of information technology for Harris Beach where he establishes, plans, and administers the overall policies and goals for the information technology and telecommunications departments. Mr. Shutts oversees the analysis of the full range of technology needs of the firm and its practice areas and departments, and establishes priorities for feasibility studies, systems design, and project implementation to develop new or modify existing information processing systems. He is also a member of the firm’s e-info℠ Electronic Information Counseling and Management Team overseeing the IT professionals that provide litigation and e-discovery support of the team. Mr. Shutts is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and is also certified in Risk Information Systems Control.
Mr. Shutts provides management and information technology consulting support in the form of general project management, security and recovery planning, training and support, assessing technology trends, and developing and implementing creative solutions. He also works with outside vendors and companies to design and manage all technology resources for each Harris Beach office.
Mr. Shutts has experience with all core information technology business processes including contract negotiation, resource scheduling, procurement, and customer service.
Professional Background
Mr. Shutts has more than 20 years of professional information technology and project management experience. Prior to joining Harris Beach, he held numerous senior-level management positions with two network consulting companies based in Syracuse, New York. While with those companies, he handled large and small scale systems design and implementation, and researched a variety of new technologies including web site design and web site hosting products, application service provider products, virtual private networks, and security products and solutions.
Mr. Shutts has provided training, technical support, and consulting services for clients and small to medium-sized businesses and has practical experience in sales and marketing in computer and information technology areas.
