Mr. Gaenzle is a member of the firm and practices in the Public Finance and Economic Development Practice Group and with the Real Estate Developers, Energy, and Municipalities and Quasi-Governmental Agencies Industry Teams. He focuses his legal practice on municipal and tax-exempt bond financings, including manufacturing facilities, civic facilities, CCRC communities, and low income and pooled housing projects. He also assists clients with industrial development agency assisted transactions, sale-leaseback transactions, pilot increment financings, New York State Empire Zone transactions, Brownfield Tax Credits, 501(c)(3), hospital and other not-for-profit representation, general commercial and corporate law and economic development projects across New York.
Those projects include:
- The closure of the Seneca Army Depot in Seneca County,
- The financing of a $13 million truck stop on Interstate 90 with the assistance of a pilot increment, and
- The underwriting of a municipal parking garage in Tompkins County through an air rights lease arrangement.
Mr. Gaenzle has significant experience representing industrial development agencies, urban renewal agencies and local development corporations throughout New York, as well as other local and state issuers as bond, transaction and general counsel. In addition, he has represented and currently represents numerous underwriting and placement firms and financial institutions on tax-exempt and taxable financings.
Prior to joining Harris Beach in 1997, Mr. Gaenzle was a licensed private investigator handling patent and trademark infringement cases and white collar criminal investigations.
Professional & Community Activities
Mr. Gaenzle is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the New York State Economic Development Council as well as the New York State Bar Association. He has spoken at numerous state economic development conferences. Mr. Gaenzle is also a member of the “Committee of Twenty-Five,” a not-for-profit charitable organization.
