Russell E. Maines
Senior Counsel
Mr. Maines is senior counsel to the firm and practices in the Business and Commercial Litigation and Construction and Surety Law Practice Groups, the Health Care Industry Team and with the e-infosm Electronic Information Counseling and Management Team, which provides comprehensive document management services for both transactional and litigation scenarios. He represents clients in zoning, planning and commercial disputes, and handles all aspects of pending lawsuits, including negotiations, trials, arbitration, and appellate advocacy. Mr. Maines defends municipalities in lawsuits relating to land use, contract matters, and Article 78 proceedings relating to administrative decisions. He also represents plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of matters, including representing a claimant in a New York State Court of Claims case relating to police fabrications of fingerprint evidence.
Prior to joining Harris Beach, Mr. Maines was a litigation associate in a Rochester area law firm. He began his legal career with a national law firm in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Maines was an investigative reporter with newspaper and television outlets in Ithaca.
