Ted H. Williams

Mr. Williams is a member of the firm. He practices in the Business and Commercial Litigation Practice Group, providing extensive civil litigation experience in both federal and state courts. Mr. Williams has a broad background in litigation matters involving construction law, contracts, copyright law, corporate and partnership law, commercial leasing, discrimination and civil rights, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) matters, personal injury, product liability, and real property and real property tax matters. Prior to joining Harris Beach, Mr. Williams was chair of the Litigation Practice Group at a Syracuse law firm, and he was on the staff and served as editor of the Syracuse Journal of International Law and Commerce.
Representative cases include:
- McDonald Investments vs. Cadaret Grant & Company (2004): Successful defense of NASD arbitration concerning covenant not to compete.
- Welch Allyn, Inc. vs. Tyco International, et al.; Ludlow Company LP; and The Kendall Company (U.S. District Court, 2002): Co-counsel for Tyco defendants in defense of federal trademark and unfair competition action.
- The Attorney General of Canada vs. RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, et al. (U.S. District Court; 1999): Co-counsel for RJ Reynolds in action by Attorney General of Canada alleging civil RICO violations.
- Copeland vs. Geddes Federal Savings & Loan Association Retirement Income Plan; and Geddes Savings and Loan Association (U.S. District Court; 1999): Successfully prosecuted action pursuant to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).
- Holland vs. Rosalies Restaurant, Inc., Philip Romano and Edward Collella (New York State Supreme Court; 1998): Successfully defended corporation and individual defendants in action for alleged breach of partnership agreement.
- Broadcast Music Inc. vs. WPBK, Inc. (U.S. District Court; 1996): Successful prosecution of copyright infringement action.
- Broadcast Music, Inc., et al. vs. Sonny Investment Associates, Inc. (U.S. District Court; 1994): Successful prosecution of copyright infringement action.
- Hilow vs. Rome City School District (U.S. District Court; 1994): Successful defense of Rome City School District in employment discrimination action.
- Hanley vs. Williamson (New York State Supreme Court; 1992): Successful defense of alleged breach of contract action.
- Lees vs. Case-Hoyt Corp. (U.S. District Court; 1991): Successful defense of Case-Hoyt Corp. in employment discrimination action.
- Koagel vs. Ryan Homes, Inc., et al. (New York State Supreme Court; 1990): Successful defense of Ryan Homes, Inc. in action for alleged misrepresentation concerning real estate taxes.
- Bell vs. Federal Express Corporation (New York State Supreme Court; 1989): Successful defense of Federal Express Corporation in disability discrimination action.

- The Enlarged City School District of The City of Watervliet v. Honeywell, Inc. Cleaver Brooks Division of Aqua-Chem, et. al.: Successful defense of product defect action.
- John Mezzalingua Associates, Inc., d/b/a Production Products Company v. Buckley Owens Machinery Corporation, Doosan Machinery U.S.A. Inc., and Doosan Machinery: Defense of machine manufacturer in product defect action.
- St. Charles Cable TV, Inc. v. Eagle Holdings, Inc. (U.S. District Court; 1988): Successful defense of product defect action and prosecution of counterclaim pursuant to Uniform Commercial Code, Article 2 for the sale of cable television equipment.
- Schiltz V. Keenan U. S. A.: Defense of action alleging defective farm equipment.
Professional & Community Activities
Mr. Williams is a member of the New York State and Onondaga County Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Landmark Theatre, and a past director of the Syracuse Boys and Girls Club.
