A St. John’s University School of Law team sponsored by our Inclusion and Diversity Committee made it to the final eight in the recent National Latina/o Law Student Annual Moot Court Competition. The team of Tina Kassangana and Precious Lewis, coached by Liss Mendez, represented the St. John’s Law Latin American Law Student Association (LALSA.) The competition was Oct. 5-6 in New York.

The national NLLSA is a not-for-profit that serves as a conduit for Latina/o law student voices and is focused on advancing Latina/o academic success and commitment to community service. “On behalf of the St. John’s University School of Law and the Latin American Law Student Association, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you for sponsoring our team. Your generous contribution gave Tina and Precious the opportunity to participate in a National Competition that provided them with a unique experience,” Yessica Pinales, a third-year St. John’s student and immediate past National Chair of the National Latina/o Law Student Association, wrote in a note to committee chairperson Wendy Kinsella.
