Roy Breitenbach, Leader of the Harris Beach Health Care Industry Team, partnered with Jim Tudor, Director of Coding and Billing Compliance at the HealthCare Compliance Network on a webinar titled, “New Evaluation & Management Coding Guidelines: Are You Maximizing Reimbursement and Remaining In Compliance?”
A description of this program’s webinar recording is below:
Any physician practice team member who addresses billing compliance and compensation issues will need to be well-versed in the 2021 Evaluation and Management (E/M) changes and the subsequent reimbursement impact they will have on the 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS). Under the new guidelines, there is more focus on the clinical status of the patient and complexity of the visit. This change may make the clinician’s job easier and auditing their work more difficult.
The 2021 E/M coding changes will have a big impact, and providers will not fund much leniency as they implement the new rules. Health care providers need to prepare for the potential of audits by fully understanding and implementing the guidelines.
This webinar will help anyone who handles compliance and compensation issues – including physicians, billing/collections managers, directors of revenue cycle, office managers or business managers:
• Understand the difference between the new coding rules and the old
• Learn terms and definitions integral to the new guidelines
• Review medical decision-making and time-based option
• Successfully resolve disputes when audited
