Harris Beach Educational Institutions Industry Team attorney and certified school psychologist Anne McGinnis recently addressed the basic requirements of child find and connected those requirements to supporting evolving student needs as a result of the pandemic. Her article was featured in Communique’, a publication from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
The COVID-19 pandemic complicated the identification and delivery of special education services for students across the nation. While schools grapple with supporting the increased needs, they must also be mindful of complying with child find, which requires school districts to identify, locate, and evaluate all students who may have disabilities and require special education or Section 504 accommodations.
