Matt Barry, co-leader of our Financial Institutions and Capital Markets team, is leading an effort in his role as this year’s President of the Albany County Bar Association to raise money for relief efforts in war-torn Ukraine. Matt, who works out of our Capital Region offices, is encouraging members of the Bar Association, other attorneys and staff to direct donations to United For Ukraine, a United Way outreach program.
Money from the program will cover transportation, shelter, food and medicines, childcare supplies, hygiene kits and other necessities. United Way is utilizing its global network to find vetted, non-partisan organizations who can serve as on-the-ground partners and liaisons. United For Ukraine also includes opportunities to support United Way Hungary, United Way Romania and FDI Poland. You do not need to be a lawyer to give. To make this project happen, Matt connected with Peter Gannon, president and chief executive officer of the United Way of the Capital Region. Matt said he was looking for a non-profit where the funds would go to those who need it as quickly as possible.
