Attorney Sean P. Mix has joined Harris Beach PLLC in the firm’s statewide Energy Industry Team.
Sean is joining the Energy Industry Team in the Harris Beach Capital Region as New York state moves aggressively to expand the development of wind, solar and other renewable energy sources over the next few decades. The growing investment that states are making in renewables is reshaping regulation of supply and delivery of power to homes and businesses.
Sean focuses his practice on energy and environmental law. He will support Harris Beach clients seeking to develop and maintain energy resources in New York, as well as those specializing in building out corresponding transmission capabilities. The Harris Beach energy team supports the entire energy ecosystem in New York, including generation and transmission owners, retail energy providers, real estate developers/submeterers, large commercial and industrial customers, and governmental entities.
“Changes in the energy marketplace are creating exciting opportunities for our economy and a better way of life,” said partner William Flynn, head of the Energy Law Industry Team and former chairman of the New York State Public Service Commission. “These changes require new, flexible and creative approaches to regulation. Sean’s experience with regulated markets will help us guide clients on any number of projects.”
Sean most recently served as a law clerk for the Hon. Richard C. Wesley of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and as a law clerk for the Hon. Richard K. Eaton of the United States Court of International Trade. Sean graduated fourth in his class at Albany Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Albany Law Review.
The growing Harris Beach Energy Industry Team continues to seek legal talent. The team advises clients on compliance with evolving state and federal energy laws, regulations, and agency policies; maximizing returns on energy investments; and securing funding for projects involving energy transmission and generation.
Team attorneys have represented:
- The renewables developer who filed the first ever solar-only Article X project at the New York State Public Service Commission
