Frank C. Muggia, a partner with Harris Beach PLLC, has been elected president of the American Veterinary Medical Law Association. The AVMLA is a national association of attorneys, veterinarians and others interested in the cross-section of the law with the practice of veterinary medicine and related fields.
Mr. Muggia leads the Harris Beach Veterinary Medicine industry team, which serves clients in 42 states. He is a leading veterinary attorney and nationally known in the field of veterinary law and ethics, counseling small animal, equine, bovine, and exotic animal practices.
“Veterinary practices large and small face a unique set of legal challenges not only in taking care of animals, but also in organizing and administering their business operations,” Mr. Muggia said. “The AVMLA exists to provide a forum and access to resources to help practitioners find their way through these challenges. It’s an honor to be elected by my peers to lead this organization, and to serve this unique profession.”
Mr. Muggia assumed the role of president this past weekend at the AVMLA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. He was first named to the organization’s executive board in 2016.
“Mr. Muggia’s expertise as an attorney and volunteer has been an excellent addition to AVMLA members and board of directors,” said Andrea Ball, AVMLA executive director. “We are so pleased that he has been elected AVMLA President and know that his skill and leadership will translate to this position. We look forward to executing his vision for the AVMLA in the coming year.”
