Cayuga Health, our client, recently announced plans for a significant multi-use renovation that will bring new life to the Shops at Ithaca Mall and address the growing health system’s needs for more space. It’s the second time in three years that Harris Beach attorneys have helped navigate the complex legal nature of clearing titles and easements and obtaining priority property rights on projects involving struggling malls.
The Cayuga Health multi-use project involves the acquisition of storefronts and structures encompassing about 120,000 square feet. To be built in phases, the project will create new space for medical practices, administrative offices and healthcare education and professional training. The Harris Beach team consisted of Partners Nicole Ozminkowski, Shawn Griffin and Melanie Marotto, Associate Emma Powlin and Manager of Title Services John Crane.
The Harris Beach team also represented developers in a series of similarly complicated transactions that led to the $240 million University of Rochester Medicine Orthopaedics and Physical Performance Center, a project that’s nearing completion at Marketplace Mall in Henrietta.
