COVID-19 legislation related to employers and employees is evolving quickly. Harris Beach Labor and Employment Practice Group associate Ibrahim Tariq shared his point of view with TIME Magazine related to a proposed bill that would permanently require private employers to provide at least seven days of paid sick time.
Small business may face financial hardship if these proposals are enacted, so the original bill suggested businesses with under 50 employees be reimbursed for sick time they would have to pay.
“I think that is something that would go a long way in easing whatever concerns employers have about the fiscal impact of paid sick leave,” Ibrahim said.
