On December 22, Senior Counsel Daniel Hallak was sworn in and appointed as an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) to the Huntington Bureau of Administrative Adjudication located in Suffolk County Long Island.
Daniel is a former Assistant Attorney General for New York State and currently a member of our Business and Commercial Litigation Practice Group and Health Care Industry Team. He is a litigator with a wide range of experience in commercial, civil rights and tort litigation in state, federal and appellate courts and arbitrations.
The Bureau of Administrative Adjudication (BAA) is an administrative tribunal authorized to adjudicate violations of the Huntington Town Code addressed to the public health, safety and welfare (except for violations of Chapter 87 which sets forth the requirements for building construction). Town enforcement personnel are empowered to issue Notices of Violation (“NOVs”) which are returnable before Administrative Law Judges (“ALJs”) who have jurisdiction to hear and decide each case and assess civil penalties where the violation charge has been sustained.
