Xanthe M. Larsen, an international corporate attorney with extensive experience in, mergers and acquisitions, structured and tax-advantaged finance, corporate risk management, corporate governance, public company transactions, and commercial contracts, has joined Harris Beach PLLC as partner.
Over the course of her career, Xanthe has served as primary legal counsel and strategic legal adviser on complex corporate transactions both in the United States and internationally. She handles mergers, acquisitions, financings, entity structuring, project development and finance, stakeholder engagement, collaborative work with governmental agencies, including OPIC, Ex-Im, and the African Development Bank.
In addition, Xanthe provides corporate business development units, boards of directors, and executives with strategic analyses of legal risks and opportunities, including tracking, quantification and planning related to environment, social and governance (ESG) issues.
Xanthe comes to Harris Beach with a diverse legal background that includes her practice as a partner at some of the nation’s largest international law firms. She has also worked as an in-house counsel for a major U.S. food and drug corporation, general counsel, and solo practitioner. Her hiring expands the newly established Harris Beach presence in Washington, D.C. and reunites her with colleague, partner Rajat Shah.
Xanthe’s experience in the energy sector includes projects that span the globe. She has guided deals such as the financing and development of distributed solar power in Chile; the financial restructuring of major power projects in Colombia and Argentina; the financing and construction of an upgrade to an oil refinery in Morocco; and project finance on infrastructure mining and transportation projects in Africa and Russia. She has also worked on numerous U.S. transactions from the acquisition of nuclear-generating facilities and supply chain assets and the sale and leaseback of a coal-fired generating plant facility, to providing day-to-day corporate advice and assisting with commercial transactions for technology, software, and aerospace companies.
At Harris Beach, Xanthe joins the firm’s corporate practice and energy industry teams. The corporate group represents and supports businesses across a broad range of industries and of all sizes and stages, including mid-sized and closely-held organizations; emerging and growing businesses; and some of the largest private and public organizations in the country.
