The New York State Court of Appeals is going through a change at the top with the decision by Chief Judge Janet DiFiore to step down. The Court recently designated Associate Judge Anthony Cannataro to serve as interim chief judge until Gov. Kathy Hochul nominates a successor and that person is confirmed by the State Senate.
Partner Brian Ginsberg, member of our Appellate Practice Group and formerly a New York State Assistant Solicitor General, has been helping statewide media outlets put the changes at the Court of Appeals into context recently. Brian, who works out of our White Plains office, shared his experiences with the Court and Judge Cannataro with the New York Law Journal, Susan Arbetter’s Capital Tonight blog and Crain’s New York.
