More than 900 attorneys and other professionals published articles on JD Supra last year on the intersection of education and law. Partner Douglas Gerhardt of our Capital Region offices was one of the 10 most visible and engaging of those authors nationwide, according to an analysis of readership patterns on the JD Supra site.
Douglas was recognized in the 2023 JD Supra Readers’ Choice Awards, which acknowledge top authors and firms for their thought leadership in key topics. In total, only about 300 authors were highlighted out of more than 70,000 who contributed to the platform last year.

Douglas is an attorney with our K-12 Education Industry Team. He represents some of the largest school districts across New York state, advising and counseling school boards, teachers and administrators on general education matters, labor and human resources.
In his writings in 2022, Douglas analyzed court decisions, laws and legal rulings on topics such as school cybersecurity and data privacy, freedom of speech, Title IX, and concussion management. His most widely read article was Recent NYSED Decision Underscores Need for School Districts to Protect Data Privacy.
