The New York Cannabis Control Board recently announced the state will expand the number of conditional adult-use retail dispensary (CAURD) licenses from 150 to 300. While a positive for those who applied for a license but have yet to be accepted, there is some concern about delays for those currently ineligible for the CAURD program. Harris Beach attorney and Cannabis Industry Team member Meaghan Feenan was quoted extensively in the article.
“Hopefully there won’t be any delays as a result of the expansion, but there certainly could be, because the board is going to have to consider 150 more CAURD applications, presumably before they consider everybody. So it just depends on what perspective you’re coming from,” she said.
Meaghan also weighs in on funding challenges in the industry later in the article.
