Harris Beach has a strong community presence through local offices in New York, but we apply our capabilities across the state. Our clients recognize the value in our ability to draw upon our legal and consulting resources from across the firm, whether their needs require regional, national or international solutions.
Strength in Community
Harris Beach recognizes that the vitality of our community depends on the engagement of residents, the diversity of citizens, and the support of organizations and institutions. Our firm makes community support one of our highest priorities and encourages attorneys and staff to do the same. Across the Capital Region, we have developed valued partnerships with non-profit organizations, professional and business associations, and cultural institutions and supported a wide range of initiatives important to the community.
For example, Harris Beach has made a long-term commitment to the Albany Law School Women’s Leadership Initiative, which is designed to provide professional networking, fellowship, and leadership training and support to students and alumni. We are also an investor in the Center for Economic Growth, a nonprofit regional economic and business development organization that serves as the primary point of contact for businesses interested in growing in or moving to New York’s eight-county Capital Region, and a long-term member of the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce.
Community caring requires active engagement. Our most valuable resource at Harris Beach is our people, and we believe our community benefits when tapping into that resource. For several years running, our attorneys and staff have come together to adopt families in need to make sure all adults and children experience the joy of the holidays.
Our attorneys and staff also serve on committees and boards of directors for corporations, hospitals, museums, shelters, and other institutions and organizations across the Capital Region area. These organizations reflect a diverse cross-section of professional and community-oriented interests.
At a professional level, our team has devoted time and resources to the Legal Project, Fort Hudson Health Systems, St. Peter’s Hospital, Estate Planning Council of Eastern New York, Inc., Jewish Family Services of Northeastern New York, Saratoga-Capital District State Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission, New York Farm Bureau, Capital Region Human Resource Association, Saratoga City School District’s Superintendent Parent Forum Committee, Bethlehem Central School District’s Advisory Group for Special Education, Leadership Tech Valley Steering Committee, Women’s Energy Network, Women in Communications and Energy, WNY Prosperity Fellowship and many others.
To further serve the community, our attorneys have contributed their experience, wisdom and leadership to the American Cancer Society, Tri-County United Way, Catholic Charities – Hispanic Outreach Services, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, Voorheesville Community Alliance for Healthy Choices, Bethlehem Basketball Club, Capital District YMCA, Saratoga Center for Families, Glens Falls Hospital Planned Giving Council Jewish Family Services of Northeastern New York, Woodland Hill Montessori School Board of Trustees, Capital Region Chapter of the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, West Point Society of the Capital District of New York and Veterans Legal Clinic through Albany Law School.
Many of the law firm’s attorneys and staff initiate grass-roots campaigns by coaching youth sports activities such as Devil Cats Baseball and through the YMCA, as well as organizing fundraisers for charitable organizations. Participation enables individuals to take ownership of an activity and allows them to pursue their own interests outside of the office. We also organize teams for fundraising walks and rally behind personal causes that benefit the community, such as Real Men Wear Pink, Coaches vs. Cancer, and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Harris Beach attorneys also serve their communities by donating their time to take on on pro bono cases, as we strongly believe in the importance of making the justice system accessible to all.
