Ian has worked across several cutting-edge verticals during his legal career, including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Biotechnology. As a former general counsel to high profile pre-IPO companies in the fast-paced technology sector, and previous Founder and CEO of Connett PC, a legal operations and general counsel boutique helping clients achieve over $100 million in financing growth and exit capital, Ian brings a wealth of experience and positive industry reputation when representing founders, corporate executives, company boards and investors on a diverse range of potential subjects, including corporate, transactional, compliance and intellectual property matters.
Prior to re-joining Harris Beach in 2023, Ian founded Connett PC and served as general counsel to several prominent startup ventures, including Pymetrics, Inc., a leading Series B software provider in the Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Human Resources sector. Ian also previously served as Head of Legal for the prominent AdTech venture Collective, Inc., and as corporate counsel to a multibillion-dollar global technology distributor headquartered in New York State. Ian began his legal career in Harris Beach’s Business and Litigation Group in 2012.
A frequent speaker, author, and former contributing editor to Above the Law’s popular Legal & Technology “Evolve the Law” blog, Ian has become a recognized voice and well-respected thought leader in the areas of Legal Operations, Technology Policy and Artificial Intelligence. Ian also serves as officer, trustee and secretary to the Shinnecock Yacht Club and SS Class Sailing Association, a historic and century-old sailing institution located on his hometown shores of Long Island’s East End.
