Emily represents hospitals, health care providers, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and adult care homes. She focuses on clinical operations, patient rights, risk management, medical staff privileges, medical ethics, professional discipline, EMTALA, HIPAA/HITECH compliance and related privacy matters. Emily works with clients to bring their policies and procedures into compliance with HIPAA, has experience in conducting breach analyses and counsels clients that have experienced data breaches. She advises clients on New York state’s new electronic prescribing requirements.
Emily defends clients in medical malpractice and negligence cases and is involved in all phases of litigated disputes. She has successfully prepared and argued dispositive motions. She provides assistance with due diligence and corporate and business matters in relation to mergers and acquisitions.
During law school, Emily was a research assistant for Professor Patrick M. Connors, assisting in the updating and revision of McKinney’s Commentaries for Articles 30 and 31 of the CPLR. She also took second place and won Best Oral Advocate in the Karen C. McGovern Senior Prize Trials.
