Chris handles a broad range of administrative proceedings, medical malpractice cases, and commercial disputes on behalf of hospitals and other health care providers. He appears before the NYS Department of Health on behalf of clients, and has extensive trial and appellate experience before both federal and state courts. He also regularly counsels hospitals and other health care clients on risk management and regulatory compliance matters.

  • Quinlan v. Rochester General Hospital (New York State Supreme Court, Monroe County): claims against hospital’s vascular surgeon for the alleged improper placement of a dialysis catheter that caused a blood clot for which the patient required open heart surgery (jury trial, 2006).
  • Johnston v. Rochester General Hospital (New York State Supreme Court, Monroe County): claims involving improper administration of medication to 31 year old patient resulting in profound, irreversible brain damage (case resolved following mediation and mock trial, 2006).
  • Eberhardt v. Rochester General Hospital (New York State Supreme Court, Monroe County): claims involving a recurring infection and numerous surgical interventions from January 1992 through December 1997 as a result of alleged improper antibiotic treatment of a chest wall abscess in a 56 year old female (case resolved during mediation, 2005).
  • Skinner v. Geneva General Hospital (New York State Supreme Court, Seneca County): claims involving nerve injuries to the plaintiff as a result of alleged negligence during an orthopedic surgical procedure and improper post-operative nursing care (jury trial, 1998).
  • Bastin v. Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital (New York State Supreme Court, Yates County): wrongful death action arising out of the failure to hospitalize the decedent involuntarily for alleged psychiatric illness (jury trial, 2001).
  • Hall v. F.F. Thompson Health System (New York State Supreme Court, Monroe County): claims involving the failure to diagnose and treat septic flexor tenosynovitis resulting in extensive surgery and permanent injuries to plaintiff’s finger (jury trial, 1999).
  • Gorzynski v. The Genesee Hospital (New York State Supreme Court, Monroe County): claims involving severe brain injuries to an infant as a result of alleged mismanagement of labor and delivery (jury trial, 1998).
  • Smith v. Lakeside Memorial Hospital (New York State Supreme Court, Monroe County): claims involving an alleged failure to diagnose appendicitis resulting in a ruptured appendix and related complications (jury trial, 1993).
