Matthew has more than two decades of experience as a litigator in state and federal courts in defense of complicated mass tort claims, as well as negligence and commercial claims. In the area of mass torts, Matthew counsels a variety of clients, including international corporations in the manufacturing and sales of service and electrical equipment, in the resolution and mitigation of liability of asbestos exposures cases all throughout New York and across the country.
As part of this role, Matthew also has overseen case management of asbestos exposure matters for several multi-national corporations, including coordinating historical and present-day discovery, conducting depositions, developing pre-trial strategies, including motion practice, and establishing defenses and alternative causation strategies to mitigate claims and to resolve matters. As an associate and senior associate, Matthew has also represented clients at arbitration and mediation hearings as an alternative means for resolving cases.
In addition to his experience in asbestos cases, Matthew has also litigated federal antitrust price-fixing matters, defended clients in complex criminal matters in both state and federal courts, negligence actions, and advised officers and employees of companies on compliance with local and federal laws in consumer actions.
