Adam Krauss has more than 30 years of experience providing underwriting, coverage and claims counsel representation to insurers, reinsurers and insureds involving complex risks and high-profile losses. He has successfully litigated numerous high-profile insurance disputes to resolution in both state and federal trial and appellate courts, including many matters involving Fortune 500 corporations. Adam has authored hundreds coverage opinions across numerous industries, including financial, energy, manufacturing, chemical formulation and refining, agriculture, marine, construction, automotive, industrial service, mining and others.
He also provides counsel to clients on a range of other insurance matters, including directors’ and officers’ liability, first-party property, products, professional liability, as well as due diligence and claims audits. With incidents related to business interruption and economic loss, Adam provides counsel on claims involving all risks, including natural disasters, fires, flood and environmental liability.
Adam has extensive expertise with numerous types of primary, umbrella and excess policy forms from the 1950s through present day, including: CGL, first-party property, claims-made, environmental impairment liability, pollution liability, contractor cost-cap, and facultative and treaty reinsurance certificates.
Leveraging his technical, scientific, and legal backgrounds, Adam has developed particular expertise in environmental and toxic tort insurance coverage and litigation, including asbestos and health hazard matters, on a national scale. Adam is a frequent author and speaker on climate change and its potential impacts to the insurance industry, and serves as Chair of the U.S. Climate and Catastrophic Events Working Party for the Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances (AIDA)/ International Insurance Law Association.
Outside the courtroom, Adam devotes a substantial part of his practice to counseling clients on effective claim management strategies to resolve pre-litigation disputes quickly and efficiently. Recognizing that his clients face unique legal and business needs, Adam excels in developing thoughtful, creative and proactive solutions to meet the needs of each individual engagement.
