Bruce focuses his legal practice on construction and surety law, contract law, public bidding and municipal contracts. He represents public and private sector property owners in construction disputes and in negotiating contracts with architects, engineers and building contractors. Bruce defends surety companies against claims made by owners, subcontractors and suppliers against performance and labor and material payment bonds. He also handles prosecution and defense of all construction related and lien law claims.
Prior to rejoining Harris Beach in 2001, Bruce served as senior counsel and vice president of Frontier Insurance Company where he was responsible for overseeing all of Frontier’s surety bond claims and related litigation throughout the United States.
Bruce handled surety defense and construction law matters while in private practice in Chicago. He was also an attorney with the Monroe County Department of Law for five years, handling construction and municipal public bidding matters, as well as contract drafting and negotiation.
