Jessica is an experienced litigator who has spent time in both private practice and the public sector, including senior supervisory roles in law departments in Nassau County and New York City. Across her career, Jessica has focused on high-exposure liability actions, including cases with the potential for multi-million dollar verdicts or settlements. While in private practice, Jessica handled a range of general liability actions, including premises liability, automobile liability and labor law violations. Jessica also has experience in defending medical, dental and podiatric malpractice actions.
Jessica most recently served as Acting County Attorney and Chief Deputy County Attorney of Nassau County. In these roles she supervised the work of approximately 60 attorneys and 40 professional staff, including six special investigators and seven legal bureaus. As deputy chief legal officer, Jessica presented high-profile items before the Nassau County Legislature for approval and managed the resolution of numerous high-profile cases. Jessica and her team negotiated multimillion dollar settlements with large pharmaceutical companies in opioid litigations. She also oversaw settlements in high-profile civil rights matters, and also in longstanding asbestos litigations and Fair Labor Standards Act matters.
Jessica was responsible for coordinating the implementation of regulations, compliance and protocols for Nassau County in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, from the initial shutdown to the end of 2021.
Prior to joining Nassau County, Jessica spent more than a decade in the New York City Law Department, rising to the role of assistant borough chief and senior counsel of the Manhattan Bureau Tort Division.
Jessica was recognized at the Nassau County Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration for 2021 as the first Latina Chief Deputy County Attorney. She was also the first Latina Acting County Attorney.
