DeWitt is the chief business development officer at Harris Beach. In this role, he collaborates with firm leadership and partners to execute plans for achieving the firm’s growth and client service goals. As chief business development officer, DeWitt tracks and analyzes competitive intelligence, industry trends, ideas for emerging service opportunities and other strategies to differentiate and grow the firm. In addition, DeWitt oversees a multi-disciplinary team of professionals who engage firm attorneys and non-legal consulting services on business development and digital and traditional marketing and communications. Through the firm’s subsidiary, HB Solutions, DeWitt and his team counsel clients on brand positioning, public affairs, crisis communications, media relations, and marketing communications challenges.
DeWitt has worked in business development, practice development and marketing roles at law firms since 2009. He most recently served as chief business development and marketing officer at Day Pitney, a firm with offices in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Florida and Washington, D.C. At Day Pitney, DeWitt worked with partners to develop a long-term vision for the firm, including creating pioneering NextGen symposia and ongoing strategic work sessions to recognize and adapt to a changing market. He also focused on improving client relations processes, partner collaboration, client succession plans and other initiatives to increase revenue. Prior to his time at Day Pitney, DeWitt also served as practice development manager at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison, LLP and as manager and director of business development at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP.
Prior to his career in Marketing, DeWitt was a real estate and finance attorney for 12 years at Cravath, Swaine and Moore and Schulte, Roth and Zabel in New York City, after earning his law degree from Fordham University School of Law.
