Taylor advises public and private employers in all areas of labor and employment law, including general practices, the development of policies and employee handbooks, disciplinary decisions and terminations, workplace investigations, management trainings, and compliance with state and federal employment laws. In addition, she assists with the counseling and representation of employers in labor relations matters, and the defense of employers and management throughout litigation involving various claims such as discrimination, harassment, and retaliation under state and federal law.
Taylor is also a member of Harris Beach’s Cannabis Industry Team and advises public and private entities on labor and employment developments related to New York State’s legalization of adult-use marijuana. This includes developing legally compliant drug-free workplace policies and conducting trainings regarding the impacts of marijuana legalization on the workplace. She is a frequent speaker on cannabis-related employment topics and regularly publishes articles about employer-based legislative updates.
Before joining Harris Beach, Taylor worked as an associate at a firm in Massachusetts where she practiced domestic relations law and assisted with employment litigation cases.
While attending law school, Taylor served as a student attorney with the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic in Portland, Maine, the York County District Attorney in Alfred, Maine and the Pine Tree Legal Assistance Family Law Department in Portland, Maine.
As an undergraduate, Taylor played lacrosse for Mercyhurst University, serving as Team Captain, earning All-Conference Honors and making the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll.
