Justine is an experienced litigator focused on complex torts and toxic torts, product liability and general litigation matters, with a specific focus on municipal law. She supports the firm’s representation of the City of New York as outside counsel appointed by the City of New York Law Department, Office of Corporation Counsel, in litigation involving personal injury and property damage, roadway design, construction planning, and premises liability.
Justine also has extensive experience in all aspects of complex litigation management, particularly in cases involving medical and dental professionals. She has helped prepare the defense strategy in more than 150 cases and is well-versed in analyzing and assessing potential claim exposure to keep clients informed of potential risks. She also has extensive experience in the review and analysis of records in the course of litigation to develop cohesive defenses, and in recommending, retaining, meeting with and consulting with experts in the preparation of defense strategies. Her experience extends to the courtroom, where she is involved in drafting and orally arguing substantive motions, including motions for summary judgment, re-argument/renewal, dismissal, and compelled discovery. Justine has also drafted appellate briefs and has successfully argued on behalf of clients at the appellate level.
Prior to working at Harris Beach, Justine’s law practice focused on the defense of medical and dental professionals. She helped bring many cases to favorable conclusions through negotiating settlements. She also secured a courtroom defense verdict on behalf of a client. While attending law school, Justine served as a student counselor for the Health Insurance Counseling project in Washington, D.C., where she was tasked with navigating the complicated framework of Medicare and Medicaid to counsel clients and advocate on their behalf in obtaining Medicare Part D plans, Qualified Medicare Beneficiary status, Medicare Supplement plans, and other relief.
