Kareen practices in the areas of contract disputes, construction litigation, eminent domain, medical malpractice and creditors’ rights. She counsels clients on litigation avoidance and strategies for the management of various risks. She provides support both to companies and individuals related to compliance with ethical codes and statutes to reduce liability.
Kareen is involved in the successful defense of medical professionals from anesthesiologists to urologists. She assesses the value of claims involving birth injury, brain injury, catastrophic injury and wrongful death. Kareen also assists in the successful defense of creditors, law firms and collection agencies facing violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and comparable state statutes.
Prior to joining Harris Beach, Kareen served in the Appeals Department of the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office. She has been an assistant law clerk for the Monroe County Family Court, where she focused on issues related to juvenile delinquency (JD) and person in need of supervision (PINS) proceedings. Kareen also served as a legal assistant at the Center for Disability Rights, where she focused on disability law.
